If there was ever a time to banish the black, bury the beige, and think pink as Kay Thompson famously pronounced in Funny Face, it’s now. Pink—in all its blushing variations—is everywhere, from Cardi B’s OTT Met Gala look to Barbie’s blockbuster bubblegum marketing blitz. We’re not the least bit surprised. Color experts had long been predicting this rose-colored revival in interiors, with 2023 colors of the year ranging from Pantone’s electrifying Viva Magenta to Sherwin-Williams’s romantic Redend Point. And according to Behr paints, pink shades in its portfolio saw year-over-year sales increases up to an impressive 32 percent. It’s easy to understand pink’s popularity, owing to the range of hues its palette offers; its warmth; and, of course, its inherent sense of fun. Still not tickled by the idea of a fuchsia foyer or salmon salon? Thankfully, interior designers in the ELLE DECOR archive have proved the hue’s versatility, whether it’s dressing a peach-tinted changing room or in a bold floral adorning an entry. Read on for 25 of our favorite pink room ideas.

According to architect Frank Webb of the design firm White Webb, the owner of this Woodstock, New York, home wanted her office to channel a “girl-power vibe,” from the Barbie artwork by Mark Hogancamp to the painterly wallpaper by Glamora. A backlit display case showing off a collection of vintage glassware adds even more rainbow brights.

Fashion insiders Michel and Sally Perrin decamp to this sherbet-hued villa on Mexico’s Pacific coast, where open-air passageways and palapas are doused in electric shades of raspberry. “There’s a word in French, ludique, which means whimsical, clever,” Sally says. “I think that’s what we were trying to accomplish with this house—to keep it light and playful.”

Sweet dreams are made of this! In shoe designer Minna Parikka’s Helsinki home, pared-back Scandinavian design meets fun. The bedroom, shown here, got an entirely pink treatment, from the lacquered walls to the shutters to the bedframe. “I love creating worlds that are filled with fantasy and escape from the mundane,” she tells us.

If you’re looking for ways to bring pink into your home beyond a coat of paint, consider your appliances. When New York firm Le Whit designed this fun pad for a local accessories designer, “We were deliberate about the pop of ultrafeminine with the stove,” principal Liza Curtiss says of the La Cornue cooktop. “It was our client’s dream stove—she’d discussed it with her family years before, actually!”

This Georgian home may be stately in every sense of the word, but that doesn’t mean it shies away from fun. The homeowner, designer Antony Todd, coated the entire building in a pale tint with an olive-green door for extra contrast.

Ballet Slipper Walls

Pink can serve as a neutral when mixed with the right furniture and accessories. In designer Ramsey Lyons’s happy (dare we say hoppy?) abode, a pale ballet slipper hue adds just the right dose of fun to the living room alongside traditional and contemporary silhouettes (and the two adorable pet bunnies, of course). “I’ve made a space that is about joy,” she says—and we couldn’t agree more.

The palette of this San Francisco artists’ residence was inspired by the sweet pastel colors Wayne Thiebaud’s French Pastries. We, of course, especially adore the Pepto Bismol–pink floor.
